Dorsa joined this UVA West Lawn accessibility project in 2018 as a Landscape Designer. The Lawn – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – is home to 3.3 acres of terraced turf panels, framed by rows of mature shade trees. The task at hand was to design an ADA accessible ramp while matching the historic environment and materials. Exhaustive stakeholder consultation and numerous design alternatives ultimately resulted in the installation of two permanent brick ramps on The Lawn’s west side, making much-needed connections between the three central terraces. The project was completed and installed in 2019 and won the 2020 Potomac ASLA Merit Award for Social Impact. Dorsa's contribution to this project was the completion of the 100% Construction Documentation set.
